A message from the Principal

Turtle Creek families,

It is with great enthusiasm that I introduce myself as the new Principal at Turtle Creek Elementary School!  I recently completed my 25th year in education after graduating from UW-Eau Claire in 1999. I started my educational journey at Edison Middle School in Janesville while pursuing my Masters in Educational Leadership through Viterbo University. After eight years of teaching and coaching 8th graders, I was hired by the Salem School District as their K-5 Principal. For the last 14 years I have served as the Elementary Principal at Big Bend Elementary School in the Mukwonago Area School District.

I believe that schools perform best when all stakeholders work together in order to maximize student growth emotionally, socially and academically.  I look forward to working with you and our staff to make sure all students feel welcomed in a safe environment with a guaranteed and viable curriculum.  My goal is to create a positive school culture where students want to learn, staff want to work, and families want to visit.  Over the course of this school year we will work hard and play hard!  I invite you to play an active role in your child’s education and see all the tremendous experiences happening in the classrooms and during the many events at Turtle Creek throughout the school year.

Outside of school, I enjoy traveling to sunny destinations, attending live sports events, and boating on Lake Wisconsin with my family. My wife (Nikki) and I currently live in Mukwonago with my sons Tarek (15) and Jalen (17).

The start of the new school year cannot start soon enough!  I appreciate the trust you put in our staff as you hand your child over to us in September.  Please do not hesitate if you have any questions or would like to set up a time to meet.  I am looking forward to this new opportunity and am excited for what the future holds at Turtle Creek Elementary School!.

Sincerely,
Shawn Waller
