On March 7, Phoenix 7th Grader Bella Dunlap debuted her artwork titled, Figure Skater, at the Madison Symphony Orchestra's Young People's Concert at Overture Hall in Madison, WI. Miss Dunlap's artwork was shown to an audience of over 1,500 Wisconsin students during the Symphony's performance of Pictures at an Exhibition by composer Modest Mussorgsky.
In the Fall of 2022, the Madison Symphony Orchestra called on young artists from the state of Wisconsin to submit artwork that would reflect the students' thoughts as they listened to the music of Mussorgsky. The piece, Pictures at an Exhibition, was originally written as the composer's reflection of artist Viktor Hartmann's art exhibit. As were some of Hartmann's original work, Miss Dunlap chose to do a pencil sketch of a figure skater as her reflection on the music.
We are so proud that Miss Dunlap's piece was selected for the performance, we are proud of this young artist and we can't wait for her next project!
