Since 2014 the Delavan-Darien School District has been identified each year by NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) as a Best Communities for Music Education award recipient.  This award recognizes and celebrates schools and districts for their support and commitment to music education and efforts to assure access to music for all students as part of a well-rounded education.

The Delavan-Darien School District provides music opportunities across all grade levels. During their elementary years, students engage in regular General Music classes where they learn about music history, musicians, how to sing, to read music, play instruments and more. Students can begin playing a stringed orchestra instrument in 4th Grade.  All students participate in music concerts to share their musical skills with families.

In grades 5 to 12 students have the opportunity to participate in band, chorus, or orchestra in addition to general music classes. Students in these performing ensembles work with guest clinicians and college faculty, perform for school events, attend collegiate and professional musical concerts, and travel to places like Madison, Chicago, New York City, Boston, New Orleans and Toronto. They also attend Wisconsin School Music Association large group workshops and festivals and District Solo & Ensemble Festivals. Every year, many Delavan-Darien music students qualify in WSMA State Solo & Ensemble Festival as well. Students who work at advancing levels at PXMS and DDHS have additional opportunities to participate in Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Strings and Chamber Choirs. These students act as ambassadors through performances for community organizations and events. In addition students can participate in Phoenix Middle School and Delavan-Darien High School musical theater programs.  Delavan-Darien music students build wonderful life-long memories through their study of music.
