Course Information:

Students in Drawing and Printmaking II are encouraged to develop creative solutions to assignments and to visual problems. Students will refine techniques introduced in Drawing I, creating larger and more developed pieces.  Multiple two-dimensional mediums are explored. Students will strengthen their technical skills while being challenged to develop their visual communications skills.

Outcomes:

Knowledge:

  • Understand and utilize the different definitions, supplies, rules, and techniques required for monoprinting, etching, and block printing

  • Identify and create drawings and prints utilizing the 5 major themes of art; portrait, figure, still life, landscape, and non-objective art

Technique:

  • Understand and demonstrate accurate shading techniques when drawing from life using a variety of drawing media

  • Demonstrate proper printmaking techniques using monoprinting, etching, and block printing

  • Create artwork utilizing the 5 major themes of art

  • Understand the concept of visual communication and begin to develop a personal voice in their own work.

  • Demonstrate proper mounting and matting techniques

Analysis:

  • Critically analyze and evaluate and compare personal work with the work of other in a written format as well as becoming familiar with participating in group critiques
