A message from the Principal
We look forward to welcoming all of our new and returning students back to Delavan-Darien High School to begin the 2023-24 academic year. I am Jim Karedes, serving the Delavan and Darien communities as principal of The Delavan-Darien High School. This new year brings with it many new challenges, both different and exciting, yet similar to and quite different from any other year. The 2023-24 academic year will serve as my 11th year in the Delavan-Darien School District and my 27th year in education. I earned my Masters Degree in Educational Leadership from Concordia University and my Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I am here to proudly serve the Delavan-Darien community, support the incredible high school staff and guide our students to be prepared for their endeavors during and beyond high school.
Delavan-Darien High School is a member of the Rocky Valley Conference (all sports except swimming), affording students a multitude of opportunities including various sports, a myriad of plays, professional theatrical performances, and a plethora of clubs to enhance our students sense of belonging. Academically we offer Advanced Placement courses to all levels of students (grades 9 through 12) which provide our students the opportunity to earn college credit prior to leaving high school. We take great pride in sharing that we have multiple staff at DDHS that have accelerated and connected their courses to allow our students to earn transcripted college credit with Gateway Technical College. Simply put, Delavan-Darien High School & DD TECH are well-equipped to provide, support and prepare our students for careers and college preparations in a global economy.
On a personal note, my wife Anne and I are both employed by the Delavan-Darien School District to support all learners. We have two sons, with all of us being fanatics of the Wisconsin Badgers. In my free time I enjoy coaching, watching, and supporting basketball, football and lacrosse, while also finding time for the outdoors through hunting, fishing, and hiking.
