Course Information:
This course is designed to further the development of created and planned language usage which is cultivated through contextualized discourse exercises between student-teacher, student-student and teacher narratives. Creative usage of ASL in the form of poetry and storytelling is introduced by teacher and other signers via video text. Deaf cultural topics are included in each unit, to provide context for vocabulary units and to expand cultural perspectives and understandings.
Prerequisite: FL614 - American Sign Language II
College Readiness: This course counts as 1/2 year of foreign language. (Taking all four American Sign Language courses (I, II, III, & IV) at DDHS equates to 2 years of foreign language preparation for college readiness.)
