Course Information:
The Strength Training I course is designed to provide physical workouts that focus on strength training. The course will also include cardio-vascular concepts, power and explosive training, lateral quickness, and flexibility. The students will learn to train their body and design a fitness plan that is reflective of the activities they are interested in. The course will be focused around the fitness center and the weight room.
Outcomes:
Identify muscle groups and basic functions
Identify movements or lifts that train muscle groups
Develop long-term and short-term goals focused on personal fitness
Recognize the importance of balancing strength training with other movement training
Practice proper and safe weight lifting techniques
Identify physical fitness components
Design and implement a fitness plan based on personal fitness scores
Understand the role that nutrition plays in the process of strength training
