Mrs. Grover’s and Mrs. Scott’s Personal Finance classes planned a Friendsgiving Dinner in their Budget unit. Students had fun collaborating together to plan their dinner menu and determine the cost of their dinner. Students were surprised how much work and expense goes into planning a Thanksgiving meal.
Students had to collaborate to plan a menu of what dishes would be at their dinner. Each group member provided a recipe for the item they were making. This allowed them to see which groceries they would need to purchase. Students had to do some comparison shopping by looking through online flyers from area grocery stores to find the best price. Students had to complete a recipe expense report to determine the total cost of their dish and the cost per person. Students then had to present to the class.
