Delavan-Darien High School is proud to announce that it will be hosting PROM: Great Gatsby, Back to the Roarin' 20's, for its students on Thursday, March 25, 2021! Many considerations have gone into thinking about prom. We have reached out to our students to enlist their support while also keeping our community safe. In collaboration with other Southern Lakes Conference schools, we look forward to offering our students a sense of normalcy. Sadly, both Homecoming and the Sadie Hawkins dances were not permitted to go on this year, therefore we are working hard to make prom come to fruition.
Tickets will be on sale to students March 1 through March16. There will absolutely be no ticket sales after 3 PM on Tuesday, March 16, as we need to report our actual numbers to the venue that evening. Students owing fees or fines will not be permitted to purchase a prom ticket without first taking care of that priority. Students will be able to purchase only their ticket. Tickets will cost $30/person and will include the meal and entertainment for the evening. We will be using the Geneva National Resort for this year’s venue.
Prom 2020 did not occur due to the pandemic. Thus, we will host both a junior (traditional) and senior prom court since our seniors missed out on this opportunity last year.
Addressing Covid Concerns: As long as the governor's mask order is still in place, we will require students to wear masks upon entry. While we acknowledge students may be in close contact (through dinner & dancing), students will have the next 11 consecutive days off of school. Finally, no outside guests (other schools or former graduates) will be permitted to attend. Only current DDHS students will be permitted.
Academic Concerns: Due to the date of prom, both Thursday & Friday, March 25 & 26, will be remote learning days for all students (9-12) at DDHS. Teachers will still report to school to deliver online lessons, but all students will remain home for two days of remote learning prior to Spring Break the following week (March 29-April 2).
