Delavan-Darien High School, in collaboration with the City of Delavan, and Mayor Ryan Schroeder, are proud to announce that once again we will be partnering in the "Mayor for a Day" program for the 2021-22 academic year. One DDHS student that applies to the program, each month of the academic year, will be chosen by school administration to shadow Mayor Ryan Schroeder and take part in the various meetings that occur throughout each day. Students will gain the experience to discuss city management, budget, policy, and other topics that arise. All students are eligible to participate as long as they have a 2.0 or better GPA and no behavioral or attendance concerns.
Mayor Ryan Schroeder said, "Young people are the future leaders of tomorrow; this program will give students a better understanding of how local government works for them and their families each day." DDHS Principal, Jim Karedes, shared, "Delavan-Darien High School is excited, once again, to be able to afford this opportunity to our students that are interested in pursuing civic careers and allowing those students to explore that pathway through collaboration with the City of Delavan, and specifically Mayor Ryan Schroeder, to learn about how city government functions."
